This page contains a list of scheduled project events, and key articles.

I'm scheduling the hikes this early because of the time needed to complete the hikes.  I'm also choosing Sundays because people have a lot of things to do on Saturdays.  All of the hikes are located in mountain areas so it will take up to 2 hours to reach the trailheads.  Plan for travel time to the locations.  Also, some of the hikes require us to get permits.  For this reason, I would like to know who plans on going to each so I can try to get these before hand.  Don't forget that you are required to get a wilderness pass to park anywhere within the national forests (Angeles and San Bernardino).  You can pick up day passes at all ranger stations for $5 per day or you can get a year pass for $30 I believe.  I recommend the latter since it may cost you less in the long run.

Make sure you bring everything you will need on the hikes.  Don't plan on anyone bringing items for you.  This means water, food, clothing, and medical supplies (sun block, band aids, etc).  Unless you have an agreement with someone, try to be self sufficient.  Remember, these are day hikes and you will need to pack accordingly.  Heavy packs will slow you down and may cause undue fatigue.

I nearly forgot about costs.  The Old Baldy hike will require a small fee for the ski lift to the trial.  I'm not exactly sure what this will be but I will try to find out.  The Big One will also have costs.  I will find out what the tram will cost and find out when we have to purchase them.

I have additional information on each of the hikes.  I will distribute info before each hike so everyone can read up on them.  Let me know if you are interested in any of the hikes.  As I mentioned earlier, permits may be necessary and I need as much lead-time as possible to make sure we can get them.  I hope you can come out and join us.
