Welcome to the home page for The Adventure Seekers
Take a look at What's New in our web.
All right, it's me again. I'm always trying to get
someone hurt. I
have a challenge for you if you are willing to go for it.
Set aside
those fears and put those hiking shoes on. I have a little
outdoor
activity that will make you wonder why you agreed to do it.
First of
all, I would like to remind everyone that life is short enough as
it is.
There isn't a need to waste what precious time we have. The
is
especially true with those younger years when you are strong
enough to
make physical goals happen. We also want to build memories
that we can
draw on for years to come and I can assure you that this
suggestion will
make that happen. With this said, I will move onto the
proposed
activity that will make you think I'm nuts.
Here's the challenge; San Jacinto Peak, the hard way! For
those of you
who don't know where or what this is, this will jog your memory.
Have
you ever been to Palm Springs and seen the tram that goes up the
mountain? Well, the peak on top of the mountain is the
goal. The trail
begins in Palm Springs in the desert. It's a short climb
(20 miles) on
a mild grade (10,600 feet of elevation gain and 2,600 feet of
elevation
loss) during perfect weather (100 degree temps on the floor and
possibly
snow on the top). All in all, it will be just a lazy
afternoon (we have
to start 2 hours before sunrise and will take more than 13 hours)
hike
through shaded (nearly 100% exposed) terrain.
As far as I'm concerned, this is a once in a lifetime deal
(unless I get
hooked on pounding my body). I have a summary on the hike
if you are
interested. Seriously think about it. How many
stories do you really
have that will come close to this? That's what I thought.
Besides,
your spouse or girlfriend may like it as well. I will most
likely rent
a house in Palm Spring so mine will have a pool to hang out at.
Your
better half is more than welcome to hang out with her. Just
think how
good the beer will taste after the hike. I bet it will be
better than
any you've ever had.
I don't have a set date yet for the hike. It will either be
late
October or early November. This will ensure enough training
time and
keep the temps the best throughout the hike. If you have a
suggestion
concerning a date, I would love to hear it. Let me know
what you think.
All opinions are welcome whether they are yeah or nay.
